Welcome to the website of St Mary-le-Tower Church Ipswich (SMLT). It is a real joy that we are once again able to hold public services in our church. At our Sunday Eucharist we are united in the Spirit over space and time, some in church, some on line, some watching later; the Holy Spirit still makes us one.
Please refer to the Who’s Who page for further contact information, now that the Parish Office is closed. Do visit the website regularly for updates on our activities. The most recent information and links will be placed on the home page so you do not have to go looking for them. Indeed other pages of this website may not be up to date at the moment.
Do make good use of the resources and updates on this website, and also the resources and links on the diocesan website www.CofEsuffolk.org and the Church of England website www.ChurchofEngland.org/prayer-and-worship . You may also like to try www.SacredSpace.ie as another spiritual resource.
The life of our choir continues online, especially its important work with young people, and Chris Borrett our Director of Music is masterminding this. Our substantial choir community is already well connected with email and social media, and we are working to achieve the same with the rest of the SMLT congregation. The choir are producing a weekly anthem recorded by individual voices on line, and then multi-tracked into a finished recording.
If there are others whom you know who would like to keep in touch with SMLT, please tell them to get in touch with me. And for those who do not have email, a mobile phone number to which we could send text messages would be good, failing that a home telephone number. But please don’t send us someone else’s details without asking them first and saying you have obtained their permission.
Here is a prayer for the times we are in.
Guide us, Heavenly Father,
with your peaceable wisdom,
as we venture into the future together.
In all that is unfamiliar and challenging
keep us mindful that nothing
can ever separate us from your love.
Give us joy and courage in our living,
and sustain us in all our struggles;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
